Stump Grinding & Removal
A stump is what’s left after a tree comes down — and grinding it is the step that gives you your yard back. Left in place, a stump is a trip hazard, a mower-killer, and a home for pests. Ground below grade, it becomes open ground you can sod, plant, or pave.
One thing to know upfront: I grind stumps on the trees I remove. When I take your tree down, I can grind the stump below grade the same visit or right after — that’s how most of my stump work happens. I don’t take stump-only jobs.

What Grinding Does
My grinder chips the stump down several inches below ground level, turning it into a bed of chips. I clean up the chips and haul them away — or leave them for your flower beds if you’d like. The remaining roots decay harmlessly underground over the following years.
Why Finish the Job
- No more trip hazard in the lawn
- Mower blades stay intact
- No pest habitat against your home
- No thicket of suckers from cottonwood, elm, or aspen stumps
- A clean, level spot you can actually use
Planning to Replant or Build There?
If you’re putting a new tree in the exact same spot — or a patio, addition, or foundation is going over it — tell me during the estimate. That changes how deep we go and how we handle the roots.
