Trees off your home, car, fence or driveway — safely.
Creative Tree & Stump LLC is a Brighton, CO-based tree removal company serving 22 communities across Adams, Weld, Jefferson, Boulder, Broomfield, and Denver counties. Shawn Brandau, an ISA Certified Arborist with Front Range experience since 1991, leads every extraction personally, and the company is fully insured for high-risk removals over structures. A tree on a house is one of the highest-risk jobs in this trade, and it is not the time to find out your crew is uninsured.
The most dangerous part of a fallen tree is often not the tree — it is the power line it brought down or is resting on. Assume every downed line is energized, even if it looks dead, and keep everyone, including pets, back at least 30 feet. Call 911 and your electric utility so they can de-energize the line; we do not cut a tree off a live line ourselves, because that is the power company’s job and the only safe way to do it.
Once the utility has made the line safe, or where no line is involved, we can get to work. Until then, the right move is to stay clear and wait — no tarp, no photo and no piece of firewood is worth approaching a live conductor for. Power can also back-feed through a downed line from a neighbor’s generator, so a line that looks dead may not be.
A fallen tree is full of stored energy. Limbs and trunks pinned under load are in tension and compression, and cutting them in the wrong order or the wrong place causes them to snap, roll or spring — which is how people get seriously hurt. We read those forces first, then release them in a controlled sequence, rigging and lowering sections rather than letting gravity decide where they go. Knowing where a trunk is in compression versus tension is the difference between a clean cut and a violent one.
For a heavy trunk lying across a roof or a large or hazardous tree, we lift sections off with rigging or a crane so weight is removed from the structure piece by piece instead of all at once. It is slower and more deliberate than a chainsaw free-for-all, and that is exactly the point — controlled removal is what keeps the rest of your roof, and our crew, intact.
The goal is to remove the tree without adding to the damage it already caused. We rig cuts away from the structure where possible, protect the ground and any surviving landscaping, and lower heavy pieces under control rather than dropping them. Where the roof or a window is open to the weather, we can tarp it before we leave so the next rain does not finish what the tree started. A few dollars of tarp now can save thousands in water damage later.
We also photograph and document the damage as we go, which supports your insurance claim. We handle fallen tree removal across all 22 of the communities we serve, and in storm-prone older neighborhoods like Thornton it is one of our most frequent emergency calls.
Shawn Brandau has pulled trees off Front Range homes since 1991 — an ISA Certified Arborist directing every extraction, full insurance on every job, and rigging and crane capability for the heaviest removals.
Around-the-clock crews for fallen and hazardous trees.
24/7 emergency response →Get everyone out of the affected part of the house and away from the tree. If a power line is involved, call 911 and your utility and stay 30 feet back. Then call us at (970) 580-6932, and photograph the damage from a safe distance for your insurer.
No. A fallen tree is under tension and can snap or roll violently when cut, and any contact with a power line is potentially fatal. Removal over a structure needs trained rigging and the right equipment — it is not a DIY job, and the emergency room visits that follow homeowner chainsaw work every storm season prove it.
Not while the line is live — that is the utility’s job. Call your electric provider to de-energize the line first. Once it is safe, or where no line is involved, we remove the tree and clear the area.
Yes. We remove fallen trees from vehicles, fences, sheds, driveways and outbuildings, not just houses, rigging the wood off carefully to avoid adding damage, and we document everything for your claim so the paperwork is not another thing you have to chase down.
Frequently, when a tree strikes a structure or vehicle. Coverage varies by policy, so we provide photos, a written assessment and an itemized invoice, and can coordinate with your adjuster to support the claim through to payout.
